What is Amnezia VPN, and why do I need a server?
AmneziaVPN ("Amnezia") is an app for connecting to a VPN. With this service, the VPN runs on your own JustHost virtual server with its own IPv4 address. The ready-to-use option uses AmneziaWG; a self-hosted VPS gives you root access, a choice of protocols, and the option to upgrade.
How is a ready-to-use VPN different from a VPS for Amnezia?
A ready-to-use VPN connects via QR code and requires no server configuration. A self-hosted VPS gives you root access, lets you install other software, change protocols, and move to a more powerful plan. You can share the VPN with friends with either option.
Do I need an Amnezia Premium subscription?
No. You pay JustHost to rent the server; the AmneziaVPN app is free for connecting to your own server. Amnezia Premium is a separate subscription with different terms. It is not included with this service and is not required to use it.
Which VPS is suitable for AmneziaVPN?
The base self-hosted VPS configuration has 1 core CPU, 2 GB of RAM, 30 GB NVMe, its own IPv4 address, and a 300 Mbps connection in fair-share mode. If the number of users and devices grows, you can move to a more powerful plan.
Rental cost depends on the service option, location, and billing term. The quote shows the monthly price, total for the selected term, and renewal separately.
Where do I get the QR code or connection key?
After the ready-to-use VPN is installed, the QR code and vpn:// link will appear in your JustHost account and be sent by email. These are the connection details for your server. If the QR code is displayed on the same phone you are using to connect, use the vpn:// link.
One server is hosted in one location. With this service, you change countries in your JustHost account, which recreates the server. This deletes its data, changes the IP address, and requires you to add the connection to the app again.
How do I change my IP address?
Use your JustHost account. Changing the IP address recreates the server and deletes the data on it, so save any files you need beforehand. After the change, use the new connection details. Check the number of available changes and their cost in your account.
Are there data or speed limits?
Data transfer is unlimited with both options. The ready-to-use VPN has a connection of up to 200 Mbps; the self-hosted VPS has a 300 Mbps connection. Both operate in fair-share mode: actual speed depends on network load and the route.

How many devices can connect at the same time?
You can share the VPN with friends and connect multiple devices with either option. If load on the VPS grows, you can move to a more powerful plan. Before ordering, ask JustHost support how many simultaneous connections are permitted.
What should I do if Amnezia VPN won't connect?
Check your internet connection, update the app, and compare the QR code or vpn:// link with the details in your JustHost account. After an IP or location change, or a reinstall, the old details may no longer work. If the problem persists, contact support and include the service and error message.
